Then when your health gets low run back to the bank and eats food. You don't need to turn in or even keep the sulfur. So you may as well drop it each piece of salt will grant you 0.37% favor. So you're going to need to mine around 2700 sulfur give or take a few.

But that's the fastest and easiest way to do it. You can also build dynamite and make armor with some ore or something but I don't really know what that is and it's slow and pointless.
